A 36-year-old trucker was critically injured on Tuesday, Oct. 21, when a wheel came off another vehicle and crashed through the windshield of his truck, hitting him in the face and chest.

It happened in El Paso, TX, when a wheel fell off a load in a double-axle trailer being pulled by a green pickup heading in the opposite direction on I-10 West, police told the El Paso Times. Witnesses said the wheel made two big bounces on its way into the eastbound lanes.

The trucker’s name hasn’t been released, but police say he was driving for F/X Freight Exchange, whose parent company is based in Chicago.
