GRAND JUNCTION, Iowa — Authorities say a 47-year-old Minnesota man and 22-year-old Iowa man were killed in a fiery collision between two large trucks that temporarily shut down part of state Highway 30 in central Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says William Crookshank of Randolph, Minn., and Robert Pierce of Callender died in the crash, which happened Thursday morning near Grand Junction.

Authorities say a semitrailer traveling west slowed to make a left turn. Crookshank’s semitrailer came up behind the first truck and hit it.

Crookshank’s vehicle then went into the eastbound lanes and collided head on with the third truck, driven by Pierce. The vehicles were engulfed in flames.

The highway around the accident site was closed until about 5:45 p.m.
