This privately-owned corporation currently operates a fleet of 20 units, including cargo vans, straight trucks and tractor-trailers. The majority of the fleet is composed of company drivers at the present time, but Ultimate Express is actively recruiting owner/operators.

Operating in 39 states, the company's primary freight lanes are Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky and Ontario, Canada. Since it's founding three years ago, Ultimate Express has focused on mainly automotive freight, but is now expanding into other commodities.

Duke Williams, VP of Operations, tells us, "Our growth has been outstanding, we fully expect a growth rate of at least 70% this year."

"We have an active sales force which is currently involved in expanding our market share, and we forsee keeping the owner/operators who we recruit, very busy."

The company operates with a policy of weekly settlements for it's owner/operators, paying a commission of 65% of the gross, with all fuel surcharges going to the truck.

Ultimate utilizes a First In, First Out dispatch policy normally, only when customer needs dictate do they dispatch the closest truck.

Presently, the company provides all insurance for the owner/operator.

In response to our question of 'what makes Ultimate Express a good company to lease with?,' Duke Williams says, "Honesty; we've tried to develop a relationship with our drivers based on trust, and to that end, we have a strong open- door policy."

Ultimate Express is currently recruiting 22'-24' straight trucks in the areas of Ft. Wayne, IN, South Bend, IN and Indianapolis, IN. No Haz-Mat endorsement is required at this time.
