FedEx Custom Critical
She begins, "This is an added service that we'll be able to offer customers in collaboration between FedEx Freight (our regional LTL carrier) and FedEx Custom Critical."
"Actually, what we're doing is taking the top of the expedited market and working collaboratively with the top of the LTL market to come up with this product."
A growing family: Express Way Inc.
"You understand the drivers and what they're going through so much better when you've been on the road and done it yourself.
Our drivers do that because they're real professionals and I think it's because of the way we treat them with respect. We have some drivers who have been with us for ten years." - Rod Baisden, Vice President
A New Look at Panther II
“A primary focus for Panther II is to grow our fleet by helping our current owners grow their businesses. In other words, in addition to recruiting and bringing in new contractors, we want to grow from within our fleet by enabling our smaller fleet owners to become larger, more successful fleet owners.”
“To that end, we are planning to invite our contractors who own one or more trucks to Seville for a workshop and take them through the business of being a fleet owner."

On Time Express: An update
"We are doing mostly automotive freight and we're able to get some pretty good rates whether it's an envelope or a truck load. We have very little dead head. Our objective is to get our drivers out and back with loads no matter where they're domiciled, whether it's Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, etc."
"We've got freight running everywhere and anywhere, so we can work with people if they want to be come back home or stay out a couple of weeks. It's a tough task for this company, but we do a pretty doggone good job of it."
Robert Stark, Founder, On Time Express
Carrier Focus: TranStewart Trucking
"I don't want high turnover among our owner-operators. Once they come here, I want to keep them here by keeping them busy and happy."
"Something we're very proud of with our company is that we don't have any charge backs to the owner-operator. Every company that I know of charges for satellite fees, fuel taxes, paperwork and so on. We don't!" - Jerry Stewart, Sr.
Carrier Focus: Remedy Express

Fun, food and bikes: Tri-State's summer party
Tri-State fleet owner Paul Lowder made it in from South Carolina for his second Driver Appreciation party and stayed for both days.
He says, "My wife and I have had a wonderful time, it's a great event! I've been with Tri-State Expedited since 1995, and it's great the way that the company has gone out of it's way to throw this party for the contractors and employees."
It's for the fleet: Panther II's Driver Appreciation Days
"We really enjoy giving out these prizes - the motorcycles, the vacation packages and all - because the contractors in the "Service Pays" contest really embody what we value in a contractor - dedication to service. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you." - Panther II CEO Dan Sokolowski
Carrier Profile: On Time Express
Company founder Bob Stark says, "I have some contractors who have been with me since the day I opened the doors and those drivers have stayed with me."
"We just haven't had the kind of turnover rate that other carriers experience. We don't have too many vehicles and not enough work because we try to be very strategic when we do our "hiring".
Panther II's new home
This facility replaces the company's old administration headquarters in Medina, OH. The move was accomplished department by department over a period of time to minimize disruption of company services. The move was completed by December 15.
President Dan Sokolowski projects company growth will eventually take over the remaining 20,000 square feet of unused space. This will give the building a service life (for Panther II's needs) of 10-12 years.
