you just have to love unions

Dispatched today to Akron to pick up a hot order for a company that was down until these parts arrive. I get there at 1120 and am told which door to back up to. I am situated at the door and ready for the freight at 1125. I'm told they can't load 5 skids because lunch is 1130-noon and they're a union shop so they can't load into their lunch time and will do it at noon. Sooo, the other company gets to stay shut down an extra half hour because the union bums can't load 5 skids before lunch. And they wonder why people are down on unions.

Not only the crazy breaks they have to abide by but some of the "safety" rules are insane.after about 30 min of waiting on a safety manager at a GM to come see if we would be able to unload due to the weird dock lock that they were using. It was one that came up from the ground to basicly chock the wheels. The dock doesn't work unless the chock part captures the truck. Our truck is special with the reefer and side boxes we werent able to be captured.
So after waiting an hour down the road because we could not get to location early then 30 min for them to decide what they would do. They ended up sending us down the road to a Fedex freight to unload. lol
