Where have the rates per mile gone?

I was looking at a number of carrier websites and found that virtually none of them included the rate per mile for the various size units. About a year ago when I was researching it seemed that almost all of them posted their rate per mile. Has anyone else noticed this change? Am I suffering CRS again and only think they used to post pay rates? Does anyone know of a source for pay rates other than calling a bunch of recruiters and being worried to death afterward?

Last friday in Detroit, I had the oppertunity to talk to a recruiter from a very well known company, turns out they don't pay what they did a year ago, admitted they had lost some good contracts in automotive, and also don't have enough freight for their vans either, although they had a hiring sign on the trailer.
The rate mentionend would not even cover my expenses these days.
I wonder where this is gonna lead to?

No, you don't have CRS, last year and even just a few months ago they were posting rates/mile. I think they have stopped because those rates have dropped, not just because they have dropped rates, but because they are having longer deadheads to cover freight. Not sure exactly what is going on, definitely seeing a slump in freight. Not just me, but a lot of aquaintances. I think too that many of the companies found themselves being accused of false advertising because it would seem a lot of truck drivers either don't read the fine print or don't understand that you include deadhead to get ave/mile. At any rate, that is the reason that FedEx is giving for the new flat rate for E units is that it will allow their recruiters to talk more easily to drivers who just don't understand percentage. I'm hoping something happens soon to get things moving again!

I believe that ALL TYPES posts their rates on their site still. Unlike many of the expediting companies out there, they still pay a flat rate per mile. If they underbid a load, they don't cheat you like most of the companies out there do now. It is nice knowing what your getting for the load, not wondering what your pay will be and hope you make a profit.

They do post one of the highest flat cpm rates as well as no QC fees however they are the topic of numerous horror story posts. If only the good stuff on their website were true without the horror stories it might be one to try.
