whats the difference between chauffeurs and class

i dont get the laws here in michigan...i took my class c test and have my certificate....michigan allows you to take the test with the type of vehicle you will be driving..(cargo van) however when i went to the secretary of state.. the computer would not accept it without a endorsement...such as hazmat...they did give me a chauffers licence though...it will be up to 6 weeks for my hazmat investigation to be completed and test taken...another delay, until i can drive with a expedited carrier....what is the difference between a chauffeurs and a class c ??

In most states, I believe, you can only get a "C" if you have an endorsement of some kind, when you are driving a cargo van. Here in Ohio, you only need a class C if you need a HazMat endorsement, or plan on driving a vehile that will be transporting 16 or more people.

If you have already done all of the leg work to get your HazMat endorsement, some carriers will sign you on, if you can prove that everything is in the works. When I signed on with Panther, I had my "C", and was waiting for my HazMat letter from TSA, which I just received yesterday.

You might want to check with the recruiters to see what each carrier will accept.
