I have several Hinos and just love them. I have the 268 and 338 models and all are 5 speeds. The trucks have held up well and Toyota has been great at fixing what little bit that has gone wrong on them (such as the tail light assembly on my first one). They seem to have plenty of power for us and get good MPG.
