What kind of pay???

I started as an expeditor in 1997 making $1.64 per mile with a 24' straight truck. Now, I am self employed, and getting $1.85 per mile for a van and $2.25 per mile with a 5th wheel flatbed. Generally, it is loaded outbound and deadhead home, but that still averages over $.90 per mile van and $1.12 trailer, plus I get lots of local work that pays great. I can't stay out for weeks at a time like many of you can. I have responsibilities that require my attention. What kind of per mile rates are out there, and how often do you get home?

I average about 1.35 to 1.45 a mile in a van. Like you I deadhead home after each run. All my customers are located in the area I live. I take you have your own authority like do.
