What are some good companies and expected incomes?

Just wondering what you all think about good expedited companies out there.

What are good qualities to look for in an expeditor company?

What should I expect when starting with an expeditor vs standard OTR/LTL company driver?

I stay out 3to 4 days at a time now and get anywhere from 2000-3500 miles a week at 36 cents a mile with only 20 drop off pay and average 6 drops/pu a week

What makes a load profitable to run anyway?
I am getting into totally new territory here. I suppose if you are on a percentage base you would prefer high dollar freight but what if its mile based pay? It shouldn't matter then right?

I am also looking at buying a good used truck any suggestions?

Many contractors started out working for a fleet owner . You don't have the expense of buying a truck and if things don't work out you can walk away . If you plan on running solo the money isn't that great . Most runs will be restricted to 500 miles or less . A post on the general expediter forum says deadhead averages 30% . If you go with a fleet owner you may be able to team with an experienced driver and odds are the truck is leased to one of the better companies .
