There is an article on thetrucker.com website that introduces a new model for calculating fuel surcharges.

It’s a concept that could revolutionize the manner in which the trucking industry does business because it bases the fuel surcharge on real time prices rather than government data.

I thought it would be of interest to alot of us on this site.

I would be very happy when these companies/brokers will be required to pass on to the drivers/IC 100% of those fuel surcharges.
In my oppinion, these companies/brokers are nothing more than a bunch of THIEVES. They charge customers fuel surcharge, the customers pay it thinking that the money go towards fuel, and the companies keep a portion of it. Why? They don't buy any frigggen fuel.

Rant over.

That is why with every brokered deal you accept you should require the broker to send you a copy of their agreement with their customer.

That way you can see how the charges are broke down and what the fuel surcharges are.

If I get my price to move the freight I don't really care what the broker makes and I make sure they know that. I am more concerned that if I got my price to move the freight that I am getting any and all of the fuel surcharge.

The price to move the freight and the fuel surcharge are two different items of billing and its my thought should always be billed and discussed as seperate issues with the broker or customer.
