A heads up for anyone traveling I-20 around the AL-MS state line. They are having problems with some adorable teenagers, I presume, throwing things off the overpasses in the area. Thursday night it was bricks off the overpass between the first westbound rest area and the TA truck stop at Russell, MS. They bounced one dead center of our hood and Mike saw a bunch of broken bricks in the road at the same instant. We pulled over and called 911 right away and were sent up the road to the TA to meet the highway patrol and 2 other trucks who had also been hit. The 911 dispatcher said they had had several complaints last weekend, too. Before they got all the reports filled out a fourth truck came in with the windshield broken. It was about 11:00 PM.
There's no ramp where they were throwing the bricks, of course, so the HP could only drive up and down I-20 shining their spotlights on the bridge. The sheriffs dept. has jurisdiction on the side roads, so I can't figure why they didn't sent a couple deputies from opposite directions with no lights on to corner the little *******s. I'd sure like to get my hands on them.
