I am thinking about getting back into expediting and have pretty much convinced myself to do it; but I'm not sure I am asking myself the right questions, or have the right answers. Background: have done courier work, drove for Schnieder, and drove for Panther for about 18 mos in '02 & '03. Now driving a dump truck for paving company and work seems to be drying up(finished 4 lane project last year in middle tn) on course now to make 5k less this year than two years ago. Of the driving jobs, I really, really liked the expedite work. Had to come home because of a problem at the house-she's moved out. Here's my questions: What's changed? Why the bad vibes on Panther? What's a Panther company driver? Does it still take 8 hours to get back into the U.S. from Canada (had the CSA approved but never signed the paperwork)? Does anyone have any info on Expedite Solutions that they're willing to talk or pm about. Is a fuel surcharge of .30 cpm normal? What question haven't I asked. Any input would be appreciated. Read the thread about tons of repos; I realize things are tough all over, can an honest and hard-working individual still make a decent living in this business?
