% vs cent per-mile

any advise on what is better % or cent per-mile I have talked to an owner that is offering 46 cent mile solo and 48 cent for teams any advise would be helpful, they pay fuel/tolls, thanks for any help you maybe able to offer

It would depend on the company you are talking about and when you say percentage, what percentage of what number.
In other words, is it a percentage of the gross or something else? Are you paying fuel and tolls?
Need a lot more information to make a fair assessment.

thanks davekc for responding I was offered 46 cents a mile with 60% of the deadhead and detention to the truck as the owner pays for fuel and tolls, or they said I can pay for fuel and tolls and recieve 60% of everything fsc, deadhead, detention. I got into paying for fuel once and lost do tofirst owner not living up to the contract so im alittle lost here Ive only been expediting for approx 3 months, thanks

The first deal is better than the second if on the second they only give you 60 percent of the FSC.
Fuel is too expensive for the driver to give up 40 percent of it.

thanks for the advise I see alot of your replies and adise to new driver and you are/have been very helpful it is a good thing to have drivers as yourself out there willing to take there personal time to offer there help and advise to help new drivers make a go of it, with knoweldge from people that had to learn it the hard way again thanks for the help, god bless and be safe

The second deal could be better IF (remember that word IF) you receive 100 percent of the FSC and what the actual rate is.
