Seasoned Expediter
I am wondering if there is a company that uses pickup trucks. I own a F150 V8 and would like to get into special delivery. As an example customer is shipping hardwood flooring and finds they didn't ship all of the boxes, they have to have it delivered fast. Is there anything like that availible.

Thanks

Hotshot companies in the gulf region use pickups. Mostly TX and LA is where you see the largest number of them. As far as expedite, I believe CTX use to have them, but not sure now. I would call their respective recruiters for current information.

Check your local courier/messenger services. Most of your big expediter companies will not take on pickups as they want a minimum available cargo length of 8.5 feet. Even if you do find someone to sign a pickup on they usually require at least a 3/4 ton (250 or 2500 series depending on make).
I started out in this business with a local courier using a full-size 3/4 ton pickup with a camper shell. I did a fair amt of "out of town" deliveries but there was alot of non-palletized freight that had to be hand loaded and hand unloaded utilizing a two wheeled cart.
I much prefer the no-touch freight in expediting.
