Truck Stop Wrecks

Pictured below is the fourth truck stop accident Diane and I have seen in less than three years of expediting, and with us avoiding truck stop stays as much as possible. Moral of this one; dont' park on the end of a parking line. Picture does not show it but radiator in the hit truck was ruptured. Corner crushed in pretty bad.

Driver of hit truck was propery parked, just sitting there minding his own business. Then, in an instant, he's going have to be towed to a shop for expensive repairs and extended down time. Hood will have to be replaced for starters. Flatbed driver who hit the parked truck will drive away and be making money tomorrow. No fair!x(

Good advice... do not park on the end of a row...
you're asking for trouble of all kinds if you do.

and at nite time... here's another tip -
leave your parking lights on so that drivers that may park on either side of you have a reference point to go by.

Parking lights on at nite makes a world of difference.

Also, it never hurts to use the G.O.A.L. method... Get Out And Look.
even if you have to get out 3 or 4 times...
you'll look smarter doing that than if you hit something.

Had it been dark and had the skate board driver been backing up, I might have been able to understand this one! It appears he just may have been in too big a hurry to play in traffic. Never the less, HE HAD A BAD HAIR DAY!

Sad thing is, it's not always just that guy on the end. I've seen a couple wrecks where it was drivers pulling out of a spot, and swing too soon hitting the next truck with their trailer overhang. I wonder if it's because guys are used to having their wheels further back, and forget about the overhang or something.
