The War on Poverty---yea right

the modern day poverty of Kentucky where people live with no running water or electricity | Mail Online[/url] So, America sends billions to the Middle East and everywhere else,,,ugh,,,how about here in our own backyard,,,,maybe I just don't get it....

What struck me first....poverty doesn't mean you have to live like that. Been down on my luck more than once, paycheck to paycheck, sardines and tuna, etc. But no matter where I laid the head down.....it was clean, and tidy.

It is sad to see what's happening to the lower class, as the middle gets squeezed all the while. Empires neglect their own, and always have. Too busy spending the money on sustaining or acquiring, while a handful benefit. Used to get my ire up.....until I looked at all the people still waving the flag, worshiping elected officials (as if they matter), and staring at the latest tech gadget.

Zombie nation, with no real compass IMV. Spent a summer near this fallout and was going to settle in Berea. No work, returned to MI. One funny thing the spouse and I always laughed about......going down the highways in KY...one can always spot a shoe that's been thrown out the window, sometimes both of them, or a boot just laying on the shoulder. What a hoot. Maybe they had their foot out the window and they blew off? Or, are we just done with them? :p

We have several fairly large factories so poverty isn't as big a problem here

Figured might hear from KickStart. :D

Ya, I targeted Berea for a few weeks, and the surrounding area. We then grabbed a few things and headed down there. Wife was a whisker away from landing a job at the Welcome Center, but with MI license still in hand, it was a long shot. We really liked the town, and the people. Ended up renting a place over in Mt Sterling, which is a factory town, but I could only get temp work at the Japanese run parts factory.

In between houses and could not get anchored in KY....so we returned to MI after the house sold. Great area, and they had a Chinese restaurant to die for in Berea. Ate there twice the first two days. LOL

Too bad it didn't work out, but we did see some of the poverty areas as well. With about 10% of what this country spends on munitions, we could have done a lot of people good.....no matter what the US location.

I live in Berea ky were not like that

I know, and was not targeting KY. We have em in MI, as do all states. Have little doubt as well......someone knows the camera needs a convincing lens.

We found the shoe thing more amusing, than offensive. It's just kinda funny. Beer boxes, trash bags, Hardee's....along the road, not so funny, and that's everywhere.
