Hiking the AT is on my bucket list,I doubt I ever will though. The next would be to take a large boat on the Grand Loop.

Just bought an audio book last week of oneans hike of the AT. Im kinda like RR its on the list but so was pedaling across the US at one time.

"Walking the Appalachian trail" was a reference to Mark Sanford, the governor who made that claim when he was visiting his mistress a few years back. My bad. The news cycle happens so quickly now it's forgotten almost as soon as it happens. For some reason I remembered that one.

Maybe it's because I started the trail many years ago with some friends but we didn't finish. We didn't know anything about anything and we lasted 2 weeks. One guy had a blister the size of a silver dollar on his heel so we took a break in a hotel for a few days and never returned to the trail.

At the southern end you start right off with Springer Mtn and Black Mtn. Not big as mountains go but steep enough for switchbacks on the trail.

RR - good link. The loop sounds like fun.
