Seasoned Expediter
Well folks I am a bit disappointed in EO today. I recieved what I can only expect to be the first of many UNsolicited e-mails. I was extremely surprised today to have a new email in my inbox from someone I have never met nor requested corrispondence with. The reason I know that this is tied to EO is the inbox that it came to is for a new account that I have just recently set up. I used that email to regester for entry into the Expedite Expo. I know that the registration form is the ONLY form that I filled out while at the Expo. I, unlike most that were in attendance. had no interest in filling out entry forms for giveaways while there. My purpose in being there was to meet up with certain vendors and make contact with friends.
Apparently I had misplaced my trust in EO/ OTM when filling out the registration card. I was of a thought that they would protect the information that I provided to them at the time of registration, much the same as they had with the info that I provided when signing up to become a member of this site. The unfortunate part is I am getting mass emails and there is NO opt-out option. It will require me to respond to this particular trucking company and hope that they will respect my request to remove me from their mailing list.
The end result of this for me anyway is this. IF I ever decide to attend another Expo I will most definately provide a FALSE email and possibly mailing address (depending on how much junk mail I have waiting for me at home). Being that this was a new account and few have been given the address, if I continue to get more of this style of emails I will more than likely just abandon it and open a new one. Yes it is a simple solution but no less anoying.
