so they show you how to read a thermometer and then how to clean a fridge?...*lol*
WAY more complicated than that, OVM. They check our box at different temps with "secret" detectors, VERY high tech, special encryption devices to keep Panther from stealing the info. During the class we get our new decoder rings and have a new "bio-chip" implanted in our neck so FedEx can track us better!! (I won't go into the "secret" ceremonies that are held in rooms with no windows)

why don't they do this when your testing is due?
Which testing is due? Our semi-annual tune-up has to be current to have this testing done. FedEx cannot do reefer work. They are only testing the box itself and we take the class at that time.
it is like putting a roast in the oven? you preset the box...wait till desired temp...and viola?
Something like that only it takes about 34 hours. VERY complicate and VERY secret!! If I tell you anymore I will have to kill you and anyone else who reads this!! Since I am not a violent man I will not tell you all the gory details!!

is the testing a bit flexible? what if you are on the left coast for awhile...? I mean you are incurring an added cost of running your business which is somewhat re-imbursed in the rate you get....
We know a month or so in advance, we just don't take runs that take us too far from Canton when it is due. This year it is the week after Expo so we will be at home. The rates for TVAL work tend to be much higher than the rest of our work and it does pay for itself over the year. Shoot, I can cover the cost in just one or two loads. Besides, we get to stay in a REALLY nice motel while we are there!!
I was in a TVal truck a couple years ago and the team showed me all the bells and whistles...so much for the secret handshake...

They could not have showed you EVERYTHING. Some of the "toys" you cannot even see unless your "bio-chip" is current!! So there!! Take that and smoke it!!

We will be staying at the Cambria Suites. Everyone I have talked to said this is a nice place and they provide free shuttle service as well.
