My first post. I have driven most trans. except the super 10. Can anyone tell me if it is necessary when shifting the spliter to take it out of gear and then back in to shift. i was told this was the proper way., personaly i think it is not necessary. It seems to shift just fine by changing gears to preselect the range and then shift the spliter. thanks oilcan.

I would follow the recommended operators guide above the visor. Depending which model year Super 10 you have there were some improvements in shifter and automated use. Such as the 9th to 10thand back to 10th feature. You might call this floating the trans. Again my thought is to use the recommended guide in your truck. Thanks for the great question!

The Super 10's I know of and have tested, which would be from 2000-on, are made to be left in gear when making the split. This is the big selling point of the Super-10, to have a 10 speed with only 4 lever moves to shift from gears 1-10 as opposed to 9 moves with a straight 10 speed. The one I tested was in a Jeff Jones T300, and was very nice.
