Sprinter Cargo Hold Dimensions

How tall is it? If it's the really long one, you've got about 14 feet between the back of the driver's seat and the rear doors. The side dimensions will be slightly narrower than the Ford or Chevy, figure about an inch narrower. In between the wheel tubs, you have maybe 50 inches, as compared to 52 inches for the Ford. In my old one, which had the super-high top, I guess six feet is about right-- measure yours to be sure.

About the height: I've seen one with a really high top, higher than the one I had. His had a translucent roof too. He had the 3500 so I have doubts his Sprinter would be much good in Expedited.

Problem: They make these things in half a dozen different sizes, so we almost need a picture of the machine to be able to tell you much.

so is the 158 wheel base to best size to get to keep under -log spec's?

Logging starts @ 10,001 lbs GVW which either the 2002-2006 158" wheelbase (13'6" interior length) or the 2007 & newer 170" wheelbase (15'5" interior length for the extended) 2500 models are well under. The 2500 model is going to be less GVW, the 2007 & newer being 8,550 I think.

We cut our 2006 3500 (9,990 GVW) wheelwells down & installed a raised floor for a 4,000 lb. cargo capacity with no logging. The 2012 3500 is available with 9,900 GVW (no logging) or 11,050 GVW (logging).

It sounds like the 3500 (9,990) might be a great expediter rig if you don't mind raising the floor a little. This would allow for a nice living quarters and still have 2500#s for freight. The maintenance and repairs cost is still a huge concern for us.

While we are talking about Sprinters. Do MB or Freightliner offer an extended warranty that cover repairs out to 300K miles? I looked on line and could not find one. I never take out an extended warranty cuz I believe they are not fiscally responsible in most cases, but the Sprinters have such maintenance concerns, I might be convinced. If the extended warranties were offered by the manufacture, I would be more willing to consider one.
