Snow & Ice Chemicals on the road

As winter is coming down on us, its time for the states to start dumping the chlorides and urea-based chemicals on the road again. As was pointed out in this December issue of Land Line magazine, it is a good idea for us to power wash the underside of the trucks at least once a week. You will also want to keep all electrical connections covered with the dielectric grease. The guy that had written into Land Line was asking about the hole eaten through the steel pipe that connects the radiator to the engine. The truck had about 200,000 miles on it.

A more pleasant alternative to washing the underside of the truck is too stay on I 10 all winter.

They sell at Wal-Mart spray on rubberized undercoating in the automotive section, which works great for electrical connectors, and areas of the frame where the paint has flaked off to bare metal.
