I have a question. what consists of a DOT approved sleeper in straight trucks. I have seen both type of sleepers the one where it is built into the box and the one between the cab and box.

I am going to be buying a straight truck with a sleeper, but im unsure what is legal or not.

Chances are if it was built in the last 35 years, it is legal.

Beware that a lot of these sleepers leak. Bentz and alumibunk seem to have the most problems.

If your going to haul "ANY" table 1 hazmat then you defiantly don't want the sleeper in the box. The sleeper has to be separate from the cargo box for things like poison gas and chlorine and class 1.1 thru 1.4 explosives. So don't limit yourself with a built in sleeper. It will hurt your revenue in the long run.

They also make extended cab straights and they qualify as a sleeper
