Services and Help, while on the subject

As many of us have gone back and forth on this service topic it has made me see another need and something I just want to say. We all work for different companies and owners but we are all in the same business. We all get hurt in our wallets here and there. We can all learn from each other like we do on this site. I think everyone should remember even though we all work for different folks we can still help each other as people. You do not need to tell me where you find your best freight and the best money and I don't plan on telling you about mine. When it comes to simply helping each other I think the more we can share the better. It even comes down to seeing someone broke down. Who cares what decal is on the side. Why not jump on the CB and be sure they are ok, if there is anything you could possibly help with. One of my female drivers set 38 hours off the side of the road without one other expediter even asking if she was alright. Granted her and I were talking and there was a plan in place as to what we were going to do, but no one even asked her if she was ok. Lets work as one team when it comes to each other. I think it can make a big difference. If anybody is making a million at this and feels freindly enough to share I bet we will all listen but that is not really what I am referring to. Lets just keep each other safe and out of repair hell if we can. I will shut up now. Thanks for reading.raceman

I'll agree with your point there Raceman. Many years ago when I was in the towing business that was sort of an un written rule. You would stop to help another tow operator if it looked like they needed help. Just being a good citizen in my book.

most expeditiers I pass on the road don't have their cb's on most of the time,or they just ignore you

In that case, you can not help those who want know help. Sounds like you must try though and that is to your credit. I know those who have on and want help are quick to answer back.

Great comments group! 30 plus years ago when I started out in a big truck it was common to see a half dozen trucks on both sides of the roadway helping a broke down fellow trucker. We all had time back then and weren't afraid to stop and lend a hand. Unfortunately the world is a different place today. Back then you would see a tarp over the engine bay and the heads laying on the side of the road! Aw the good old days! Quite frankly we just don't have time anymore to help one another out. It's kinda a shame..Don't get me wrong I love the new equipment. Wouldn't want to drive anything else..like the other comments said, lets just keep an eye on our own. We owe it to each other to keep each other safe.
