I followed your link OVM and I'm surprised no one has suggested that's a revisionist site. I don't know one way or another but my BS Detector went off pretty good when I noticed the author didn't quote Jefferson or refer to letters or other documents written by Thomas Jefferson. He just seems to know Jefferson thoughts, like osmosis spanning 2 centuries. And then he tells us like it's "history".
This site doesn't cover exactly the same ground but at least they quote Jefferson and refer to documents.
I like this quote in particular: "I am captivated by the compromise of the opposite claims of the great & little states."
Or maybe this is the revisionist page:
