PIERRE -- A South Dakota House panel on Wednesday endorsed a proposed constitutional amendment that seeks to block a union organizing measure being considered by Congress.

The State Affairs Committee voted 9-4 in favor of the proposed amendment that would guarantee the right to vote by secret ballot in any political election or effort to organize a union.

The measure already passed the state Senate. If approved by the full House and signed by the governor, it would be put to a public vote in the November election.

Supporters say the right to a secret ballot must be protected.

Opponents say the bill is being promoted by an out-of-state business group, and federal law would supersede any state law or constitutional provision.

Our congress does not believe in freedom. They want the unions to be able to use strong arm tactics and intimidation. There can be no other reason for the removal of secret ballots. More use of heavy handed tactics to dictate to the States how things should be done. Most States will cower and give in and then the Feds well use it's own forms of intimidation to "force" the States to follow. What a slimey bunch they are.

They can try fighting it in the courts. Then go the defiance route. Just more "bad stuff" from our dictators in Washington.
