About once or maybe twice a year I look at another trucking board. I happened to look today and found the following in a message there. Although I don't know the person, I believe what he says since he's posting about his own truck plus his friend's truck. Since it's based on two identical trucks except for color it's strong evidence for saving money by slowing down. Using the $4.35 posted above one guy is paying 58cpm for fuel and the other is paying 69cpm for fuel. I don't know about anybody else but I wouldn't object to an 11cpm raise in pay. Here's what he had to say:
his mileage is 7.5, doing the same job as i do hauling same loads and same states ,etc, BUT he drives 55 and i do 65 same trucks except his is yellow and mine is black (iam at 6.30 now since i in creased tire psi to 110 all around)
Oh yeah, if the 7.5 guy went to 110psi in his tires it might make the difference greater but then again he could already be at 110.
