US state Dept has advised Americans to get out of Russia - on their own, by commercial or ground travel. It's looking like the Biden administration is going to end up leaving people with US or dual citizenship stuck in Russia just like they did in Afghanistan.

"Those residing or traveling in Russia should depart Russia immediately while limited commercial travel options remain," the statement released by the embassy added."

We have been telling Americans to leave Russia for months now, if anyone is still there its their own fault.

You know the old saying, a failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

This is true, but keep in mind we still have an embassy in Moscow and there are over 100 people affiliated with it including employees. If our relationship with Russia continues to go south what happens if we have to close the embassy and evacuate personnel?

It's reached the point where there are limited means to get out of Russia - not like here in the US, where people are free to travel commercially most anywhere they choose. People over there may want out but are stuck there. Do we just leave them like we did in Afghanistan? Also, what happens if US citizens get rounded up and forced into Russian military service?

More than likely us citizens would be rounded up and put in prison, and used as hostage.

Couldn't happen to a better comrade
They should hold the trials in Nuremberg.

It won’t matter. Putin wouldn’t show up and there are other countries that would take him anyway.

Well, its about to get real in Russia, now that Putin's mercenaries are on their way to Moscow to take over, things could go really bad. Hopefully Putin does not decide that if he cant win, everyone will lose.

Maybe the best case scenario is a civil war in Russia. They can't sustain two military campaigns at the same time. But if the Putin regime were to collapse, would China come to the rescue and install a puppet dictator? The peaceful coexistence we had with Russia during the Trump administration looks pretty good right now.
