Russia Invades Ukraine

As was widely expected, Russia crossed over into Ukraine early this morning but on a more expansive scale than was predicted by most "experts". Putin is taking the whole country in a flagrant act of war, obviously not concerned by threatened sanctions by Western Europe and the US. To fully understand this mess, we need to go back to 1994 when Bill Clinton was president and review the Budapest Memorandum. (bold emphasis mine)

How this will effect the US is yet to be seen, but considering the weakness and ineptitude of the current POTUS and his administration it's not unreasonable to be concerned.

"Three decades ago, the newly independent country of Ukraine was briefly the third-largest nuclear power in the world.
Thousands of nuclear arms had been left on Ukrainian soil by Moscow after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. But in the years that followed, Ukraine made the decision to completely denuclearize.
In exchange, the U.S., the U.K. and Russia would guarantee Ukraine's security in a 1994 agreement known as the Budapest Memorandum."

Apparently we now have: "Bill Clinton caused Vlad to do it."

That's at least a little better than it was the Mueller Report or Hillary's emails ...

But not by a whole lot.

Russian Sanctions will take effect in 30 days lol by then it will be all but over.

Yeah, no ... although that might be the kind of simplistic take one could get off of Sloppy Steve's Trump-tard TV.

It's actually far more more complex than that - in a lot of ways. For instance:

OFAC has imposed full blocking sanctions on VTB Bank, Russia’s second-largest financial institution, which holds nearly 20 percent of banking assets in Russia. VTB Bank is majority-owned by the GoR, which deems it to be a systemically important financial institution. This will sever a critical artery of Russia’s financial system. By imposing these sanctions, assets held in U.S. financial institutions will be instantly frozen and inaccessible to the Kremlin. This is one of the largest financial institutions Treasury has ever blocked and sends an unmistakable signal that the United States is following through on its promise of delivering severe economic costs.

The following will require a good bit of reading (with actual comprehension) to understand what all those sanctions entail:

U.S. Treasury Announces Unprecedented & Expansive Sanctions Against Russia, Imposing Swift and Severe Economic Costs

And I'm not even sure that encompasses the totality of what has been done previously.

Also doesn't cover the sanctions that were just imposed on Belarus for their complicity in Russia's aggression:

U.S. Treasury Targets Belarusian Support for Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Meanwhile, the Moscow Stock Market lost over 33% of it value yesterday - over $250 billion - while the ruble hit a record low:

Russian stocks crash and ruble plunges to record low

And that was before Biden announced this most recent round of sanctions.

Uncle Pooty will likely pay a very steep cost for his murderous indiscretions.

Assuming that he is able to retain power after all is said and done.

Check back in a month.

This happened under Biden, so nowhere else to point than him.

No ... pretty sure Putin isn't "under Biden" ... he's the de facto leader of a sovereign nation.

BTW - given what you were replying to when you made the above comment, this has to possibly rank as one of your most #EPIC self-owns ...

He didn’t do anything while Trump was President. But after about a year with Biden as President, he invades Ukraine. Guess those millions that they gave Hunter( and some to the “big guy”) payed off for them.

Meanwhile the twice impeached, one-term, has-been loser is running his mouth off ... begging to give Vladdy - his Real Daddy - further tongue baths:

If one truly wants to understand what a weak man is, one need look no further ...
You do understand the nuance and context of the what Trump was saying, don’t you? Apparently not. He was implying that Putin was trying to ridiculously rationalize and twist his actions with his military as some sort of freedom facilitator and assistance mission.

How about getting down off your high horse and stop playing politics with every thing that happens.

This has been festering for decades, even centuries.

If Trump was still in office he would have called Putin and congratulated him on his invasion and asked if there was anything he needed.tumblr_n3z9xkdFA01rlapeio2_500.gif

But he didn’t invade while Trump was in office. He waited for the feckless Biden to get in there. #factsmatternotdumbmemes
Trump has been out of office for a year, why didnt he invade as soon as Biden was sworn in?????

Well if he believed all of the Q lies that Trump was going to be reinstated then maybe thats why he waited so long.......
