Check the website out . Roadsafeamerica.org is the website of Road Safe America , the organization backing ATA in their petition for speed limiters . The founders of the organization had their son killed by a speeding truck so they want all trucks to go slower . They have no statistics or studies to back their cause but they have e-mail links to John Hill at FHMA and House Committee members . They say they aren't anti-trucker but give truck accident statistics in each state and say truck accidents are caused by speeding , drug and alcohol , use and not wearing seat belts and helmets . ( Helmets ??? ) . I e-mailed them with proven studies and statistics and told them while they have my sympathy for their loss if they are successful in their move to limit speeds on trucks THEY will be resonsible for many more deaths and injuries caused by factors of fatigue and reckless driving of 4 wheelers trying to get around slow trucks . I also thanked them for the links provided which I will use to voice opposition to speed limiters and I would encourage others to go to their site to access these links . PATT , Public Citizen , and Crash are bad enough but at least they take the time to do research instead of going to NHTSA and saying "Fast trucks are bad . Slow the bad trucks . "

It looks like they are just like any other orgnazition. They pick and choose the data that supports their own agenda.
It appears like they totally ignore data from the AAA Asoc. that says 3 out of 4 fatal accidents involving a truck are caused by a FOUR WHEELER!
