I am a current Owner Operator with class A CDL. Many years experience safe driving.
I have never done any type of expediting.
I have the opportunity to put a driver in my trailer (dedicated route between Florida and Ohio)
I have a family member interested in getting into driving. He’s expressed an interest in teaming with me but account I have my truck on is net set up to team. It’s runs 4000 miles every week and money per mile can’t be touched given outbound Florida rates so not interested in changing that up.
I’m thinking about pulling trigger on an expeditor truck and teaming with him. Given the price on truck I can flip it and make money but given his interest I’m thinking about teaming with him.
What is expected money per mile on an expeditor truck?
Do rates on expedite trucks suck coming out of Florida the same as the tractor trailer?
Will being based in central Florida effect loads the way it does the big trucks? Meaning deadhead out for decent rates?
Can you solo temporarily in an expeditor truck? Meaning if he wanted time off or I wanted time off could truck be ran effectively cost per mile during this time?
Does dry box or refrigerated make a difference?
Any help on answering would be greatly appreciated.
