Like many others, I am mechanically challenged. Would like for some of you more knowlegeable folks to give me an opinion on the cost of
replacing a release bearing in a 2001, FL-70. It is a Cummins 260hp.
w/a 6 speed. My "car" mechanic said that I should rebuild the entire
clutch. Is that rue? Thanks.

Well i think alot of it would have to do with how many miles are on it and how it looked when you got it apart...I would budget for the worst and if its not that bad then hey its a bonus...But sometimes it does make since that since you already have it apart you might as well replace this and that....So go with that...as for cost im not to sure just call around and see..

Friend of mine had clutch and throw out bearing replaced last week in a 1999 4700 series International cost $862. at local IH dealer, I would replace whole unit including throw out as it will not last 2 clutches.
