Remembering 9/11

I have a personal connection to 9/11 that I was going to write about and somewhat vent but decided against it – maybe.

After talking to the mother of someone who was killed in one of the towers, I came to the conclusion that what ever I say will not wake anyone up.

It seems that my frustration is getting the better of me and I am stepping back to see what is really wrong and why I am so frustrated. It may be that I am one of the few who actually see what is coming down the road with this whole terrorism thing or reliving the time I spent on site before and after the event or it may just be that I can’t see us winning anything with the present attitude and structure of the press that harbors so much hatred towards the people who are in power – I just don’t know.

What I do know is that there is little understanding of what our country is really facing – an enemy who will die while trying to kill us.

I also know that they know how to us our laws, compassion and our press against us.

I also know that we have too many enemies within our own country, some treasonous and seditionist who should contained by any means. Some of these are in the press, others want to be important and are held up are important and a few are arm chair generals who should just keep their mouth shut.

I know that we lack a real intelligence organization and truly need to either go back to the 1950’s and early 60’s with our intelligence structure and work or dig up J Edgar Hoover and put him back into office. I am serious about the former, just kiddng about the latter, we lack true intelligence gathering capabilities and must start using what we can to reach the goals in order to keep our country safe.

I also know that many people regard former leaders as heroes and saints, like Carter and Clinton. Both of these, with John McCain, John Kerry and John Murtha are all the same – compendious a**es. I want to thank John McCain for his torture bill so we now can’t torture people who plan on murdering us. As bad as this may sound to some, I don’t care about someone who wants to kill an American, if torturing that person saves American lives, lets do it.

The last thing I know is the hate from many people needs to be redirected to the terrorist. This may be the key issue that will cause more deaths of our citizens. I mean all I hear from the Democrats is hate and more hate. They have yet convinced me and many others that if they get into power that they will actually do some good. Instead I have heard it is far more important to investigate the president than to pass laws to protect us. Sorry but I see the downfall to our country with zealots who put their hatred first before the country and the qoute in my signature line is directed to them and people who think like them.

Are we really safer than we were on 9/11? No not at all.

There has been too much worrying about trampling rights of people who either live here as non-citizens or are not even on our soil, preventing wire taps of overseas calls and monitoring of overseas bank accounts and allowing the need for law suits from our enemies of our country to effectively negate the work done to keep us safe. It is sad that we have to have to think about fighting these enemies as a police action, or a need to create a charge of something to ‘arrest’ them or have the need for a group of ACLU lawyers to approve of a policy instead of letting the military and the CIA do a job tracking down and killing our enemy. Instead we have to wait; we have to allow exposure of our citizens first before we are sure we will not trample on the enemies rights.

I feel I need to scream, to tell people that life will change again unless we take this all really seriously. I find that the news is more concern with Couric’s first day at CBS than what has been happening in Afghanistan. It is disheartening to know that this ‘person’ is more important to all the networks and needs to have her work analyses like she is executing some battle than what our country is facing. What I guess is a bit of good news is the few people who are pointing to facts and calling it like it really is on national radio, Neal Bortz and Glenn Beck (there are others but I can’t think of their names). No this is not a commercial for them; listen to what they have to say about terrorist – they are also warning all of us.

I am also frustrated at what I have been trying to do. With all my knowledge and experience, I figure after Katrina I would help teach disaster preparedness. I figured that instead of doing this half a**, I would form a non-profit, get the resources together and work with other organizations to teach these skills. Maybe provide resources for schools and training exercises to boot – all free. To my surprise very few care, first about the work but second about disaster preparedness. I sent out 250 letters for donations to companies and received a few replies – some were nice and a couple asked for more info but a few were downright nasty and evil. I now feel that no one thinks about preparing for anything, they are more concern with gas prices, the latest Paris Hilton song (poor girl, looks don’t mean you have a voice to go along with them) or what ever to put an effort in learning some life skills. For my project, the window of opportunity closed until January when I send out another 200 or so letters asking for donations to get this off the ground.

Well I guess I lied, I guess I will throw something is about my connection to 9/11.

I worked on several disaster plans for a couple companies who were at or near the WTC complex. One was in WTC-7 and one was in a building that was damaged by the fall of the towers. My plans worked as we practiced them, not perfectly but they did work. The sad thing is I knew a lot of people who didn’t make it; I talk to some of their families regularly. The other sad thing that really bothers me is that as part of our presentation to the upper management of these and other clients was a scenario where a plane crashed into their building. I also used this scenario in the meeting on August 31, 2001 where I was employed. Now normally I got a somber reaction to the presentation when it is in front of executives and board members but with my manager and department head, they laughed – they thought this was funny, remember this is the last day of august 2001. When I was told that the plan was triggered on 9/11, I watched everything unfold as most of you did. By the end of the next day I learned what happened and by the end of the week I was on my way to NYC. On Thursday we had a department meeting and my manger, an a** made a joke of it. after the meeting I was told that I didn’t have permission to take the rest of the week and the following week off to go there to help. I did go on weekends and did see most everything.

Does it bother me? Yea, for a lot of reasons. Mainly what I said before, it is like no one cares.

Well I ask you all to really remember what happened, to understand that it can happen again unless we all pull together and stop worrying about what people think of us or if the rights of a terrorist are important.

I also ask all of you to learn something about disaster preparedness. It is not really that you may ever use the skills but sometimes something you learn will open your eyes to prevention.

Oh and the last thing – remember all that have perished in all the terrorist acts, not just 9/11 tomorrow.

Thanks for reading this.

That is an excellent post. I'm afraid I don't have the patience to write things of that nature. My blood pressure goes off the chart much too quickly and I have to bluntly say what I feel. It is unfortunate we are forced to not so slowly give away our great nation due to the actions of traitors like McClain and Clinton, among far too many others. We need to remember the Constitution protects only legal U.S. citizens and do whatever it takes to eliminate our enemies before they eliminate us.
