Remember the days of being a company driver?

I recently got a part time job delivering office supplies to aid in offsetting the cost of diesel for my truck. I am driving someone elses truck. This company in michigan has two one ton box trucks and two 3/4 ton vans. On friday I made 3 deliverys from Kentwood mi to the east side of the state. In mi the speed limit is 60 mph for commerical trucks. Today when I go into work I get my *** chewed for taking so long on friday.

I said you have the nerve to chew me out when you are operating without a usdot number on your trucks. I said Im not out to break the land speed record for the fastest delivery of copy paper but I am not risking my cdl for you. He was at a loss for words.

When you were a company driver did you run into this?

This have nothing to do with Company drivers Vs O/O .
dispatchers of any kind will always try pushing the drivers to make the most out of the little time they have .(some exceptions apply).
they are not allow to do so, and this is only one of the many rezone this industry is so heavily regulated .
a driver that makes his living off the road will be better off driving for a respectful carrier, that places his safety ahead of costumers schedule.driving for an owner that do all he can to by pass regulations is asking for ,well ,exactly what you got...
this is why,if the rules will be alter to accommodate EOBR,then i will all be for it .
so far ,with the new HOS PRM, the FMCSA have shown us that safety is not on their priority list.
the PRM not only allow this kind of behavior to continue ,it's encouraging carriers to do so.
we all have choices to make. you can ***** around on line - or you can make your voice heard .
47 days to go !

In Michigan they are making trucks that only do deliverys in michigan have an mpsc sticker and usdot. This is totally seperate from having to go beyond state lines. They are trying to get every dime from people who use commerical trucks. I can see my bosses point to a certain degree but blatently operating trucks with out usdot and mpsc numbers makes me scratch my head.

When you dont follow the rules you dont win in the eyes of the law. When you do follow the rules you dont win in the eyes of your employer. grrrrrrrrrrrrr well at least I have a boat to take to flordia so that will pay nice.

According to the MPSC, there is no more MPSC stickers. You as a carrier have to register under the UNC program. The DOT numbers are needed. If they don't have the DOT number, I wonder who is insuring them.
