When looking for a o/o to work for, what questions do I ask to see if he or she is the right one to work for? THANK YOU

You may want to reconsider your request for responses from o/o only. That eliminates the very people you are considering becoming one of. Potentially the best source for the questions would be the drivers who have gone through this already and perhaps learned the hard way what an important question is. Good luck to you.

If you are new, experience and reputation.
Ask for current references from existing drivers. Not ones from a year ago or a long lost relative.
Is there a contract? Very risky to operate without one. Even the best situation can turn ugly with a simple misunderstanding.
Do you and the owner have the same expectations with regards to compensation, truck repairs, time off, vacations, pets, breakdowns, ect?
Alot of items to cover.
And of course, with whom are they leased and what is that relationship?
There are others, but that is some of the bigger ones.

what do you mean buy, "what is that relationship?" do you mean the type of contract he is under with the company. Or do you mean something else?

I believe Dave means a contractual relationship between you and the owner.

It could be both, a relationship between you and the owner and the owner and the company. If he fails to pay his drivers for example, the company and former drivers are likely aware of it.
