maybe I'm one of the lucky few(I hope I don't jinks myself) but I've been in and out of Canada a few times and have never had any problems. What are some of the problems and fines that a driver can face when paperwork is not properly filled out, or paper work is missing?

Well One time I didn't press hard enough and Can Customs couldn't read bottom copy of manifest they were going to fine me 100 bucks, but I begged real hard!

Just yesterday I put my plate # only, the ole grump said that could cost me 100 bucks first offence ( I didn't put what province!)he gave me a lecture instead! And this is a Canadian coming home.

Beware the mood of the day!

I would say the most important thing is to always stay calm and be POLITE. This will go a long way in reducing any problems that may come up.Have youe paperwork filled out in advance, know the various procedures and you will be ok. Border crossings don!t always have the same procedures, what works in Windsor may not work in Ft Erie.Ontario usually works with the drivers,Quebec can be difficult. There are 4 scenarios going into or out of Canada.,
1 you are taking Automtive freight in.Most cases you will be cleared at the Customs Booth.you will need a CDRP and A49 form

2 You are taking general freight in which will need to be cleared by a broker, need a A8A form, also value of the freight on a Canadian Customs Invoice.
3 Your are tripping across Canada,Example is going from Buffalo to Detroit through Ontario vs Ohio. You will need a in transit manifest.
4You are taking freight into the US from Canada, you will need an inbound US manifest. But remember say "Yes Sir,No sir,Yes Mamn,No Mamn" and swear at them later, both US and Canadian.. LOL
