They are tired of replacing the full paper bills so plastics it is. Supposedly they'll save a whack of money but knowing the mint it'll cost more than they say.

I'd like to see what it "feels" like. My guess is they will embed some kind of radio chip in it as well. For "security" purposes of course.

Not only that, but they want all their printing capacity to go toward expanding the money supply. When currency wears out, the supply doesn't expand as fast as they need.
