Getting ready to go back to expediting and wonder if any one has experience with pet birds and Canada crossing.

Acouple of years ago was told the bird would have to be quarenteened 3 months in Canada and it would be OK to go in after that. US said they would charge a $40 fee every time I b rought the bird back to US.

Can anybody share their expierence?

I don't know about returning to the US Wes; but tomorrow (Sunday) morning I'll find the link to the regulations pertaining to the importation of pets into Canada. I seem to recall that birds are in fact mentioned but it's been awhile since I read them. Sorry; I'm just on my way out but will look it up for you as soon as I can.

I would have to say that pet bird would be more than you want to handle crossing the border each time. I know cats and dogs have to have there shots, but with the Bird Flu thing and everyone not knowing much about it I would think it would be harder each time crossing.

Problem solved,

Thanks, Rob & Dave, for the replies.

We found person with a love for birds, (she already has 8)who will take care of the bird while we are gone. We can pick it up when we are home.

That's great. What kind of bird do you have.

Dave,

The bird is a cockatiel that I got Jacksonville FL 8 years ago. It was two weeks old and I had to had feed it EVERY 4 hours for several weeks. When I am home it is on my shoulder or knee, inside or out doors. It begins to fal for me when I drive in the driveway. Will search the house till it finds me. I keep its wings clipped. It does not talk so I am assuming it is a female

Would hate to have to give it up permanently.
We may be hitting the road as early as next week.
