pay

A company I am looking to sign on with is giving me 3 options for getting paid and I need to pick just one. 62% of the GROSS pay for the load plus 100% of the fuel surcharge, or $1.05 per ALL miles plus 100% of the fuel surcharge, or $1.22 per LOADED mile and 100% of the fuel surcharge. In your EXPERT opinions which way would be the best. Oh by the way I have a D-unit straight truck and I am a solo driver.
Thank You all very much
Dan

And remember to take it one day at a time:) :D

It's just some simple arithmetic to get comparisons. At $1.05 for all miles you can't have over 14% deadhead compared to the $1.22 or the $1.22 is diluted below $1.05 per mile (.17/1.22). For the majority it's probably over 14% deadhead. At $1.05 all miles the percentage would have to pay $1.70 per mile to the company to equal $1.05 at 62%. That allows nothing for deadhead though. If you have 20% deadhead (a reasonable number to use for arithmetic and forecasting purposes) then the percentage has to pay $2.13 to the company (2.13*.8*.62).

Will the gross average at least $2.13 over all jobs run? Who knows. Will the deadhead be below 14% overall? It could be but it's over 14% for more people than it's under I suspect. It's quite possible the $1.05 all miles plus 100% fsc is the best compensation.

My concern with all miles is that it will probably be all APPROVED miles. If you get sent to Utah and they can't find a load, how long would they let someone sit?
