HAS ANYONE FELT THE HEAT FROM PANTHERS NEW ZERO TOLERANCE LOG POLICY? THE ONE STRIKE AND YOUR OUT THE DOOR! WELL THATS WHAT IS HAPPENING. ONE FALSE LOG AND YOUR HISTORY. NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG I KNOW THAT LOG FALSIFICATION, BACKING UP YOUR LOG ETC. IS ILLEGAL. BUT HOW MANY DRIVERS OUT THERE, CAN SAY THEY RUN THEIR LOG BOOK 100% AND STILL MAKE GOOD MONEY. (SINGLE DRIVERS ANYWAY) IF YOU ARE, THEN PLEASE TELL ME WHO YOU ARE LEASED ON WITH? IT CAN'T BE PANTHER... SIT THREE DAYS TO GET A MICKEY MOUSE TRIP AND THEN WHEN YOU GET DONE WITH THAT, THEY OFFER YOU A GOOD LOAD. BUT NOW YOU DON'T HAVE THE HOURS TO RUN IT. SO WHAT DO YOU DO? TURN IT DOWN AND GO BANKRUPT OR RUN IT? WELL YOU AREN'T GOING TO DO IT ANYMORE WITH PANTHER. IT CAN LOOK LEGAL ALL DAY ON PAPER, BUT NOW THEY ARE AUDITING YOUR LOGS AGAINST YOUR TIME IN AND OUT ON THE QUALCOMM. AND TRUST ME THEY ARE CHECKING, I GOT THE BOOT. NEVER DELIVERED A LOAD LATE, NEVER PICKED UP LATE. BUT THAT DOES NOT MATTER. NO, I AM NOT CRYING THE BLUES. WHAT I DID WAS WRONG AND I GOT CAUGHT, BUT IT WAS THE ONLY WAY I COULD MAKE ANY MONEY AND STAY A FLOAT. IF THEY COULD HAVE GOT ME THE MILES I NEEDED, I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD ANY REASON TO RUN ILLEGAL. I AM JUST TRYING TO LET ANYONE KNOW WHO IS THINKING ABOUT PANTHER AS A CARREER CHOICE. AS A SINGLE DRIVER YOU WILL NOT MAKE OUT. BUT IF YOU ENJOY SITTING FOR DAYS ON END WATCHING ALL THE OTHER EXPEDITE COMPANYS TRUCK'S COME AND GO FROM THE TRUCK STOP. THEN BY ALL MEANS PANTHER II IS THE COMPANY FOR YOU. THEY CONTINUE TO PUT THE TRUCKS ON BUT DON'T HAVE THE FREIGHT TO SUPPORT THEM. THEIR MAIN CONCERN IS HAVING TRUCKS SITTING ALL OVER SO THEY CAN COVER THERE LOADS. THEY PROFIT AND YOU LOOSE. WELL TO SUM IT ALL UP, IS THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED ANYWAY. MAYBE I CAN EARN SOME MONEY LEGALLY NOW. INSTEAD OF BEING AND OUTLAW EXPEDITER...

Wow,nasty stuff with Panther,curious .was your violation running over hours or just putting down different pickup and delivery times.If a run required you to run over hours it should have not been offered to you. I have heard similar stories about Panther ,that even if you were 2-3 hours ahead of schedule and you stopped for a hour they would immeadiately be alerting you to get moving..It seems like you could argue and win as Qualcomm locations and times are not infallabile but who has the time and resources to do that.. It!s a wild idea but mabye the time has come for some sort of Association or Union of the expedited drivers in America so that we can have some clout.Hear me Lawerence..

i'm so sorry! i understand your predicament; however, you MUST look out for yourself!

Folks, running illegal, speeding, all the things that a company almost forces you to do, are not to be tolerated -- by YOU! It's YOUR career on the line, here. That saying for drugs, 'Just Say NO!' fits this situation, too. You can't afford to have ANY marks against your record in this industry, and the truth is, YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE for your actions.

Just in case anyone wonders where i, personally, stand on this issue, here's my philosophy:

NO LOAD is worth me putting innocent bystanders' lives at risk;
NO LOAD is worth me putting my equipment at risk;
NO LOAD is worth me putting the freight at risk;
NO LOAD is worth me ruining my career over;
NO LOAD is worth my life!

If it isn't safe for me to drive, whether it's the rules or my own perception of the situation, i WON'T drive! If it costs me my job, hey! i was looking for a job when i found THIS one!

The fact of the matter is, no company is going to NOT hire you for being a safe driver. If you have a clean record, there are literally a MILLION other companies for you to drive for. It may not be exactly the job you had in mind, and wanted, but i guess we all know, by now, that the "perfect truck driving job" probably doesn't exist -- except in our dreams! lol And if it DOES exist, we're going to need to be safe drivers, with clean records, to GET it!

*********
Godspeed to all of you out there on the highways and byways!

WENDY, I APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS. YOUR VIEW OF THE SITUATION, IS HOW I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THINGS AND I WOULD HAVE NOT GOTTEN MY SELF IN A FIX, I FAILED TO COMPLY WITH THE LAW AND LOOK OUT FOR MY OWN WELFARE. BUT MORE IMPORTANTANTLY THE OTHERS SAFETY I COULD HAVE JEOPARDIZED. I SHOULD HAVE LOOKED FOR ANOTHER JOB, THAT COULD MEET MY FINANCIAL EXPECTATIONS.

I think we have to realize we are now in the age of "COMPLIANCE AUDITS". Whether it is for logbooks and hours of service or Customs - regulators are sending in teams of auditors looking for violations. The companies are penalized financially in many cases, so in THEIR OWN SELF INTERESTS,they will ensure that violators will be punished or terminated.

I have looked into driving for one of the big companys but decided against it. I got rid of my big rig and got a straight truck so I can be home more often. I drive for a local courier and plan on getting my own authority and stick within a five state area. Living on the road sucks. You might look into something like this. All the big cities have couriers that stay close to home. Find one you like and go for it. I don't like to team and you won't make any money without a team if you do 48 states. As for the log books, I'll bend mine a little in curtain situations but don't do it alot. Not worth it.
Good luck.
