I think the 4 has a few less HP but it does have more torque plus the seven speed. It shifts at a lower rpm than the six so probably pulls hills good but I would hate to be the guinea pig.

I had a drive test the other day .
2014 , 4cyl 2500 170 but not ext.
It seemed quieter .
The 7sp sfifts waaay faster than 5sp , the power is the same up to 50 mph . From 50 to 80 , I had doubts..

National parks do not allow commercial vehicles most state parks do. They will notice decals much more than a simple plate. Sure they may let you slide once in a while but would hate to plan a vacation only to be turned away at the gate. Just like your not allowed to drive on national parkways like the Natchez trace.

What if I will put seats in it and will register it as a sport van ? In this case I will have regular plates , just like on my Honda Odyssey van . Will I be able to get a commercial insurance , required for expediting, then ?

I'd buy white and dress it up with some vinyl. Easy to go all white later if needed.

Competition Stripes, anyone ?

That is exactly what Mercedes marketing was gambling on the deliberately put the four-cylinder as standard equipment in the North American model knowing Americans likes for the big engines !and would do the upgrade ! Brilliant marketing on their part

Just my opinion I doubt plates are going to matter as far as parks. The ranger shack guy is going to decide buy looks if you have lettering your going to look commercial. I could be wrong.

Still not sure how your going to pull off the expediting / contracting thing.

Bought a silver van with a proven V6 engine . 2500 ext. Got scared of a single timing chain in a 4 cyl. which is in the back of the engine and stretches after 100k ( later recall on the chain tensioner- oil leaking in 4 cyl. only proved that ) and was not impressed by little 2.1l engine. So far only one family trip. Magnetic signs do a good job :)
Silver - is 7 stage paint , vs 5 stage paint with white , that was why. And it's not that dark .
Already have Maxxair fan , Espar heater , 12v freezer/ fridge .225Amp battery bank , mounted underneath , 1500watt PSW inverter with 4/0 cables. Espar D2 and power inverter are mounted underneath , in aluminum boxes .
