On Tuesday afternoon, an OOIDA employee was shot in the head by her estranged boyfriend. The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. outside of OOIDA’s Grain Valley, Missouri location.

The OOIDA employee’s name has not been released. She is listed in critical condition at this time.

Authorities believe that Alan Duane Lovelace Jr., 37, the employee’s former boyfriend is to blame.

“The level of violence can get overwhelming, especially with domestic issues,” Grain Valley Police Chief Chris Ambrose told KMBC.

KMBC 9 news reported the couple had a rocky relationship and that Lovelace had several run-ins with the law.

Lovelace fled the scene and is on the run. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing between 170 and 190 pounds and has brown hair, blue eyes. He also has a tattoo of his last name on his right forearm.

He is said to be driving the victim’s vehicle, a 2002 silver or gold Chevrolet minivan with Missouri license plate number MG4LOB.

Lovelace should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows his whereabouts or has seen him is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 816-524-4302 or the Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
