Talk about surcharges..this one is great!

Wonder if we can get a "rough road surcharge" to offset the extra maintenance we require????

Less snow, rainfall bring St. Lawrence River to historically low level

OOCL said Friday that it will put a surcharge on all cargo moving through the Port of Montreal as of July 19 because “reduced water depth negatively affects the loadable capacity of each sailing, leading to increased costs.”

The carrier said water levels in the St. Lawrence River are at historically low levels as a result of less winter snow and less rainfall during the spring. The latest projections are that water levels will not improve in the coming months.

“A surcharge is necessary to ensure the continued provision of high quality services to and from Montreal, the carrier said in its statement.

The low water level surcharge is $75 per 20-foot container unit equivalent and $150 per 40-foot container equivalent.
