Here is a friendly heads up for anybody planning loads into or out of the Toronto, Ontario area.
June 25-June 27, 2010 the G-8 and G-20 Summit will be in and around the Toronto, Ontario area.
A BIG section of downtown Toronto is currently being fenced in for "security reasons" and will be totally SHUT DOWN during the summit.
I do not know how much security will be tightened up at the various border crossings but this little show is costing us Canadians over 1 billion dollars so I would expect much
l-o-n-g-e-r wait times into Ontario starting shortly...

Please plan your loads into southern Ontario accorrdingly...

Actually found out today via the NEWS the traffic problems "AROUND" Toronto will start on June 24th, 2010, as the world leaders land at the Toronto Airport in Mississaugia and head up north for the G8 Summit...local news reports morcades with cell phone jammers and the works to help ensure a safe ourney to cottage country.

Major fences and with concert barriers going up in the downtown core for crowd control too...

Sounds like a real good week to avoid the Toronto Area IMO...

The infield cargo access has been split. For air canada enter via Brittania Rd and for cargo building 2 & 3 (includes Canada Customs Offices) you have to enter via Courtney Park. Supposedly no infield cargo access from Convair Drive (goes from Renforth to Brittania south side of runways). This is to have 2 areas for the busy times as they are supposedly searching the inside of all trucks entering the infield as the summit attendees are being brought in via the infield terminal building. Now original plans called for two checkpoints going in, one near the outer fencing (where you're searched) and the other at the old security gate at the inner fence (security removed after infield cargo opened). Now not sure if second checkpoint still part of plans as originally they were only going to have one access road and close the other (Brittania only). But someone showed a survey of the numbers of trucks going in so they changed it. Note that this security goes into effect on the 20th.

Highway closures will happen along 427 between 401 and QEW, Gardiner Expwy from 427 to downtown, HWY 401 access to 427, during all motorcade operations. While these closures are expected to only last 15 minutes, it is for each motorcade (not all dignitaries will be together). So the backups along the highway system will be big.

Here is hoping you are no where near the actual City of Toronto downtown core tonight or Sunday. Protests have become Riots and a number of ploice cars (I think around 6 so far) have been brunt, running battlers in the downtown core...property damged (windows, ect)...IMO a good place to not be at currently,
but a verry nice place normally!!!
