Older Days of trip leasing

Okay not sure how many of you all here remember the offices that use to be upstairs of truckstops? They were broker offices where independent drivers would find their next load. Oh the good old days of bingo cards....LOL not really but was not that hard just sign a couple of papers, grab couple of their pre-made tape on signs and go load get your advance and deliver it then send in your sign BOL's or if you have been able to get terminal pay just go and drop your BOL's usually at the truckstop and get paid then start the whole thing agian.

I am wondering today sitting here in my front room thinking why not today nothing has really changed I have the ability to get cargo insurance.

So I ask you out there would you be willing to do a little work? Today it would be so easy with the internet. Some of you are in a way doing something like trip leasing working for multiple companies.

So am I wrong? There are what two or three big expedite brokerage houses now, FedEx, Panther, and Express-1 then there are logistics companies as well.

So if I have my own carrier authority, insurance including cargo why can't I sign-up as a authorized carrier with these companies?

Oh I should say that I am running a cargo van but this would work for any size unit.

There are lots of independent, single unit O/Os that are partner carriers with larger carriers. I doubt there's much of a demand for that with a cargo van because the big carriers already have a bunch of vans. I could be wrong about that, but a few quick phone calls should give you a good picture.

If you have your own Authority and Cargo Insurance you can do exactly what you are saying via the Load Boards and the Internet.
