This is mainly for con way now but how does operations rate the status of a team or truck as it goes along , example, when seeing truck number 58 come up how is it assest, good, dependable, timly , or maybe problem truck, lots of break downs, late afew times lots of turn downs, what is the thinking in that dispatch/ operations room, when assesiong the truck/driver (s) Im alwatys looking to tailor my service to the needs of company along with my self to find a balance,in the relationship between the two.so it is profitable for both , how would you know if you were not considered, a go to truck, and how could a pbo rebuild a good relationship? sorry for the length I hope I was clear.

joebob: We here at Con-Way NOW work on a "First In - First Out" basis, we do not have a "Score Card". If you take all the freight that is offered to you, you will make money, start turning down freight, running late, and not making delivery appointments, then it is both of us that are not making money.

As another old cliche says, You make your own bed. If you are out here to make $$ then you will.

Joebob,

You mentioned all the factors that make a difference - but there really is no official "scorecard". Load planners are people - and people have better memories than computers sometimes. People like to work with other "NICE" people. If you are user friendly, then there should be no problems.

To build a good relationship is pretty simple. Don't turn down a lot of loads, and do what you say you are gonna do. Keep your truck in good condition and be a good "ambassador" for your company when dealing with customers.

Also - it sounds harsh, but listen closely...
The squeaky wheel doesn't always get the grease; sometimes it just gets replaced. Be patient and let your company work for you. If you operate as a person of integrity you will do just fine!!

Best Wishes - Scott
