I am a newbie and I personally find this forum an invaluable source of information. I think it is wonderful that these "seasoned" truckers take the time to post their opinions and help us newbies out. If we, newbies, don't have enough sense to sort through the information and glean what is valuable to us, then we probably couldn't succeed in any business....
All true. I would just add that succeeding in ANY business is difficult, as indicated by the very high small business failure rate. Expediter wannabees will do well to prepare for the expediting BUSINESS by setting up a good set of books and money management practices now.
You don't have to wait to get into expediting to gain total control and total of and total knowledge of your money now. Set up a household budget and spreadsheet. For practice, track your car milage and expenses as you would a truck. The more you do to prepare before you get into this business, the better you will do after you get in.
See this Partners in Business manual for a good introduction to the trucking business and bookkeeping info.
