New/used question

My question is when you buy a vehicle for this job, do you buy a new or used one? I've done it both ways & am partial to used because we depreciate the vans so fast. I paid $10,900 for mine w/ 54,000 miles on it where as a new van would have been about $28,000.

That's a difference of about $17,000. I wouldn't lease a van for $17,000 if I had to turn it in at 54,000 miles. My logic is as follows:

Assuming 80% of those 54,000 miles were paid miles (which is high, I know) & assuming I got paid 80cents/mile I'd make $34,560 for those miles. Then factor in 3600 gallons of [email protected] gallon & there's $6660 in gas. I'd be left w/ an income of $10,900 if there were absolutely no other expenses. (34,560 minus 23,660)

Having said the above, I'm not sure I'm right. Is there something I'm missing in my thinking here?

Used is o.k. if the vehicle has been properly maintained . People trade for a reason . New will also give you warranty protection but then you have higher taxes and insurance fees . Many will say it's just better to drive for a fleet owner .

my self new is better as said in last post warranty is alot
1st three i bought new and sprinter i bought used as it had under
600 miles on it and person only used it once and decide this wasn't
for him and took advantge of his problem and got a good deal on it

most important if you buy used need maintance record to see what has
been done to truck no maintance record's stay away from that one
there may be problems and that is reason person is getting a new truck
