I RECENTLY BOUGHT A "D" UNIT...2000 FL106..AND HAVE BEEN LEASED WITH FEDEXCC. FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS NOW. I AM CONSIDERING GOING TO A TEAM OPERATION SINCE THEY SEEM TO MAKE ALOT BETTER MONEY AND CAN RUN SO MUCH FURTHER. MY PROBLEM IS THAT I CANT WORK WELL WITH OTHER MALE DRIVERS..TRIED IT WITH BIG TRUCKS AND JUST COULDNT STAND IT. IM NOT MARRIED SO WIFE IS NOT THE ANSWER. SHOULD I TRY TO FIND A GOOD FEMALE CO-DRIVER AND IF SO WHAT SHOULD I OFFER THEM AS PAY...IVE SEEN 30-35% ADS BUT WHAT EXPENSES DO THEY COVER, IF ANY, AT THAT RATE...AND IS THAT 30% OF THE GROSS TO TRUCK OR NET...? THANKS FOR ANY INPUT..FRANK

Why not pay her a mileage rate. Most of the large companies advertise "teams split 44-47 cents per mile" so if you offered 30 cents per mile for all miles (loaded and empty) it might be attractive to her. Also I would buy her one decent meal per day when on the road.It would be deductible to you and in the long run better as you would have a healthy driver, rather then someone who loaded up on fast food. Now I have also heard that what you are proposing doesn!t work out.Usually one of the two of you starts "hitting" on the other one.Sleeping arrangements can be difficult, also she should probably be single with no young children as she would want to get home more frequently. If you have a wife she might not like the idea.
However a female relative might work out.Good luck, let me know what happens, just curious. Now if you look like Wild Bill in his Santa Claus oufit you could have a real problem recruiting a female driver.LOL

teaming means....more hours in the cab...plus alot of other things that go with those hours...i have been teaming with my wife for many years. i wouldn't team with anyone else. reason: my interests are her interests and vice versa. the money goes into the same pot. when you bring another person into your cab, you BETTER GET ALONG GREAT!...and have those same goals and interests. i would go into another kind of trucking, before i would team with, friend, brother, or girlfriend....i think it's a recipe for disaster...a crapshoot at best...your new team member has to get along with YOU, your habits, temprament, mood swings etc....and YOU have to get along with the same in them....take someone you think you get along with for a two week road trip first...good luck.
